Home Performance in Virginia

Yorktown WoodsVSBN and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy are working as part of the Mid-Atlantic Home Performance Collaborative to bring the Home Performance with Energy Star program to the region. This U.S. Department of Energy funded program enabled Maryland and Delaware to start up this program. During 2008-2009, VSBN helped Virginia develop energy auditor and contractor training. VSBN accomplishments under this program include:

• Initiated the BPI Building Analyst training in the state. With additional DMME funding support, VSBN has carried out 5 trainings in different regions of the state.
• Developed expertise to offer the BPI series of training that can lead to individual certification or company accreditation under the BPI nationally recognized standards. See the Green Building Training Consortium for information on 2009 BPI trainings available in Virginia.
• Worked with the Virginia Community College System and the K-12 school system to bring training into their curricula.
